Yep, it’s only Tuesday! I could’ve sworn this morning that it was Wednesday. But nope. 😦
It’s not been a bad morning, just some frustrating stuff going on. And when I tell someone I don’t want to discuss it, that means I’m not going to discuss it. So I walk away, as this seems to be the only way to close the topic, and they think I’m being rude. Whatev? It’s stupid stuff anyways, not needed to be discussed and definitely not at work. sheesh! take a hint, get a clue, whatev….

any who I think something is in the air. More people appear cranky today…or it’s how I’m perceiving them. I don’t know. It’s just something in the air. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I think I’m going to go back to reading, and then maybe some writing, and then if I still feel out of sorts, maybe something creative.

so anywho, I hope ya’ll are having a good Tuesday!! Take care

Day of Older Persons
October 1, 2013 in the World

International Day of Older Persons is celebrated on October 01, 2013. The holiday is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse. It is also a day to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society. This holiday is similar to National Grandparents Day in the United States and Canada as well as Respect for the Aged Day in Japan.

The observance is a focus of ageing organizations and the United Nations Programme on Ageing. On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons. The holiday was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991.

Lincolnshire Day
October 1, 2013 in England

Lincolnshire Day is celebrated on October 01, 2013. Lincolnshire Day is celebrated every year and marks the anniversary of the Lincolnshire Rising, a revolt by Catholics against the establishment of the Church of England by Henry VIII in 1536. The first official Lincolnshire Day was held in 2006 to commemorate the uprising. The date was voted for by readers of Lincolnshire Life magazine and BBC Radio Lincolnshire listeners. The day aims to encourage local people, often known as yellowbellies, and those who have moved from the county to honour the historical event along with Lincolnshire’s traditions, past and culture. Some people dress up in yellow to celebrate the day, while others hold local events and decorate their workplaces with Lincolnshire flags.

World Music Day
October 1, 2013 in the World

On October 01, 2013 World Music Day, also known as The Fête de la Musique is celebrated. The music festival is observed annually and this idea was first broached by American musician Joel Cohen: In the 1970s he spent two seasons as a producer of musical radio programs for the French National Radio (France Musique), where he originated the concept of an all-day musical celebration on the days of the solstice. The idea was taken up by French Music and Dance director Maurice Fleuret for Minister of Culture Jack Lang in 1981 and first took place in 1982 in Paris.

The World Music Days purpose is to promote music in two ways: Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. The slogan Faites de la musique (make music), a homophone of Fête de la Musique, is used to promote this goal. On the other side, many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public. Two of the caveats to being sanctioned by the official Fête de la Musique organization in Paris are that all concerts must be free to the public, and all performers donate their time for free.

Despite there being a large tolerance about the performance of music by the general public of amateurs in public areas after usual hours, the noise restrictions still apply, and can cause some establishments to be forbidden to open and broadcast music out of their doors without prior authorization. So the prefectures of police in France can still forbid them to install any audio hardware in the street. Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Its common elements are pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture.

World Vegetarian Day
October 1, 2013 in the World

World Vegetarian Day takes place on October 01, 2013. It is a day of celebration established by the North American Vegetarian Society in 1977 and endorsed by the International Vegetarian Union in 1978, “To promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism.” It brings awareness to the ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.

World Vegetarian Day initiates the month of October as Vegetarian Awareness Month, which ends with November 1, World Vegan Day, as the end of that month of celebration. Vegetarian Awareness Month has been known variously as Reverence for Life month, Month of Vegetarian Food, and more.

Vegetarianism is the practice of abstaining from the consumption of meat – red meat, poultry, seafood and the flesh of any other animal; it may also include abstention from by-products of animal slaughter. Vegetarianism can be adopted for different reasons. Many object to eating meat out of respect for sentient life
