Some days my brain makes way to many promises for my body to keep up with. I have two chronic conditions now; fibromyalgia & diabetes. Let me say, whoa. One tends to feed the other one. My sugar drops, my body feels worse. Or my fibro flares which causes stress, which then causes me blood sugar issues.
Today is one of those days. I was on top of my game mentally, and then a flare spiked. They just happen, I can’t control them. Which started me stressing out, and worrying about finishing a project, my calendar, which I do every month. I had it close to completion just the other day, when a friend hit the wrong button. Yep, I was frustrated, but not the end of the world.
So today, started off strong, yet I had a bunch of physical errands to accomplish, which yay! I did.
But boo! I’m done, I can hardly move and my sugars dropped. ~sighs~
I hope my friends understand? I know the majority will. And those that also have chronic issues.
So…. I’m calling it a night and getting up and finishing the calendar, before my optometry appointment.

World Vegan Day
November 1, 2013 in the World

The World Vegan Day is celebrated on November 01, 2013. The day was established in 1994 by Louise Wallis, then President & Chair of the Vegan Society UK. The day is observed annually. The year 2011 marks the 67th anniversary of the term “vegan” and thus the verbally clarified concept of “veganism” as well as the establishment of the Vegan Society.

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, as well as an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of sentient animals. A follower of veganism is known as a vegan. The term “vegan“ was coined in England in 1944 by Donald Watson. In 1951 the British Vegan Society extended the definition of veganism to mean “the doctrine that man should live without exploiting animals”.

An animal product is any material derived from animals, including meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, fur, wool, and silk. Other commonly used, but perhaps less well known, animal products are beeswax, bone char, bone china, carmine, casein, cochineal, gelatin, isinglass, lanolin, lard, rennet, shellac, tallow, whey, and yellow grease. Ethical vegans will not use animal products for clothing, toiletries, or any other reason.

Pão-por-Deus 2013
November 1, 2013 in Portugal

Pão-por-Deus takes place on November 01, 2013. The Pão-por-Deus (“Bread in the name of God”) celebration is a Portuguese tradition celebrated all over Portugal by children up to the age of 10 or older. It is the soulmass-cakes given to the poor on All Saints Day. From early in the morning (8 or 9 am) children meet together and walk around the neighborhood, knock at all doors and local stores and say “Pão-por-Deus” to the adults they meet. People at home give them small gifts such as broas (small bread-like cakes flavored heavily with anise and nuts), chocolates, candy, nuts, fruit, or in some cases, money. At the local stores the offers are different. A store may give the children treats or a sample of a product they sell: bakers give a little bread, fruit stalls give some chestnuts, and so on. In the Azores the children are given a cake called “caspiada” during this ritual begging. The cakes have the shape of the top of a skull. The pão-por-deus or Santoro is the bread, or offering, that is given to the dead, the Molete or Samagaio is the bread, or offering, that is given when a child is born. There are records of the day of Pão-por-Deus in the 15th century. On 1 November 1755 in Lisbon, after the vast majority of the city’s residents lost everything to the Great Lisbon Earthquake the survivors had to ask for this bread in the neighbouring towns.
