Thankful thought for the evening

Having a full day with no distractions, other than my own making, to write.

I have written over 3,000 words today! I’m so close to the halfway mark, I can almost touch it. However. Having an issue with the power blinking off and on, again. And my ISP not cooperating. So I’m calling it here for the night and will start again early in the morning. And by early, I’m thinking around ten-ish. 😀

Ya’ll have sweet dreams! take care

Thankful thought for the morning

So I signed off the net early in the evening, my body was all out of sorts. I decided to read a chapter or two in a book I’m reading. And next thing you know it’s almost one in the morning and I’ve read half the book. LOL 😀

So I’m thankful this morning, early afternoon for having the day off and sleeping in. And now I’m going to watch some cbs.com and catch up on the latest eps of; Criminal Minds, CSI, and NCIS: original, LA and New Orleans. And write too! woot! 😀

So now to go check out a few social sites and then write.

laters have an amazing Friday!

xoxo

General Events:
World Diabetes Day
November 14, 2014 in the World
World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes mellitus world and is held on November 14 of each year. It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the alarming rise of diabetes around the world.
World Diabetes Day is a campaign that features a new theme chosen by the International Diabetes Federation each year to address issues facing the global diabetes community. While the campaigns last the whole year, the day itself marks the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922.
Each year, World Diabetes Day is centred on a theme related to diabetes. Topics covered have included diabetes and human rights, diabetes and lifestyle, diabetes and obesity, diabetes in the disadvantaged and the vulnerable, and diabetes in children and adolescents. As of 2000 at least 171 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes, or 2.8% of the population.

National American Teddy Bear Day
November 14, 2014 in the USA
National American Teddy Bear Day was started by the Vermont Teddy Bear Company in 2000 to honor the toys that have become a popular part of American culture. NATB Day is also said to honor President Roosevelt’s refusal to shoot a bear cub on a hunting trip in Mississippi in 1902.
The legend goes that in 1902 President Teddy Roosevelt spared the life of a bear cub while on a big game hunt in Mississippi. As the word got out, many folks were impressed by the kindness shown by the avid hunter.
The story continues that Clifford Berryman, a political cartoonist then made a drawing of the incident and the “Teddy” Bear was born. The drawing was entitled, “Drawing the line in Mississippi”.

Natural Events:
Leonids 2014
November 14 – 21, 2014 in the World
The Leonids are a meteor shower associated with the comet Tempel-Tuttle, which is visible between the 14th and 21st of November 2014. The Leonids get their name from the location of their radiant in the constellation Leo: the meteors appear to radiate from that point in the sky. The Leonids tend to peak in November.
Earth moves through the meteoroid stream of particles left from the passages of a comet. The stream comprises solid particles, known as meteoroids, ejected by the comet as its frozen gases evaporate under the heat of the Sun when it is close enough – typically closer than Jupiter’s orbit. The Leonids are a fast moving stream which come close to or cross the path of the Earth and impact the Earth at 72 km/s.
Leonids in particular are well known for having bright meteors or fireballs which may be 9 mm across and have 85 g of mass and punch into the atmosphere with the kinetic energy of a car hitting at 60 mph. An annual Leonid shower may deposit 12 or 13 tons of particles across the entire planet. Sometimes these trails of meteoroids cause meteor showers and sometimes meteor storms.
