National Date Nut Bread Day
December 22, 2014 in the USA
It’s National Date Nut Bread Day! Date nut bread is the perfect dish for the holiday season. It is delicious, healthy, and easy to make!
The first date nut bread recipe appeared in print in 1939, but dates are one of the world’s oldest fruits. Date seeds have been found in archaeology excavations of sub-tropical areas around the world. Historians believe that the ancient Moors brought the date to Spain and later introduced it to America.
Dates are notorious for their high sugar content, so it is no surprise that most date nut bread recipes do not call for any additional sweeteners. To celebrate National Date Nut Bread Day, try your hand at baking a homemade loaf of this festive treat! Don’t forget to top it off with a little cream cheese frosting!
There is some question as to the correct date for this special day. A survey of the net, resulted in roughly half of the references for this day claiming it is on September 8th. In our survey, a very slight majority record this special day on December 22. We go with the majority for two reasons: First, it is the majority. Second, this day fits well in the holiday season. Zodiac sign Capricorn
December 22, 2014 to January 20, 2015 in the World
The Sun enters the Zodiac sign Capricorn at December 22, 2014 and leaves it on January 20, 2015. Capricorn is the tenth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Capricornus. In astrology, Capricorn is considered an introvert sign, an earth sign, and one of the four cardinal signs. Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. Individuals born when the Sun was in this sign are considered Capricorn individuals.
In Synastry, the natives of Capricorn are generally considered to be compatible with the natives of the other earth signs, Taurus and Virgo, and the natives of the water signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Aries and Libra are signs of the other nature (masculine/extroverted), but are considered semi-compatible with Capricorn due to them having the same cardinal quality.
In mythology, Capricorn is sometimes depicted as a sea-goat, and sometimes as a terrestrial goat. The reasons for this are unknown, but the image of a sea-goat goes back at least to Babylonian times. Furthermore, the Sumerian god Enki’s symbols included a goat and a fish, which later combined into a single beast, the goat Capricorn, recognized as the Zodiacal constellation Capricornus.
