1. What did you hope to achieve by starting your blog?
Having a place to speak my mind, within reason of course. And to allow my family and friends to know what’s up in my life.

2. What is your favourite thing to write about?
Honestly, I have no set thing to blog about, I’m like that fluff blog, the one you come to for some fun. I love writing random stuff that has grabbed my attention.  But if I had to pick one thing; nerdy stuff! My writing, the con’s that I’ve attended, cosplay stuff-especially to get the positive message of being able to go out, dress up and have fun! As adults, some people have forgotten how to play and have fun. 

3. What do you enjoy reading the most?
Science fiction and my friends stories. 😉  Next up, comics!  😉

4. Can you find inspiration easily or is it only occasionally you find something that gets your attention?
I can find inspiration in the littlest things, and the oddest places.

5. Do you wish to continue your blog for many more years to come?
Well I hope so. 😉

6. What have you always wanted in life and have you ever got it?
Yes, no, yes, yes, no, and for the last thing, I’m still working on it. 😉  *vague I know. But some things I like to keep close to my chest.  (Bonus points for those that can tell me the movie and actress I kind of just quoted.) :p

7. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
WOW! I Love your story and your ability to write humor in your stories.

8. What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?
OHMYZEUS it’s cold, do I have to get out of bed! LOL

9. If you could be any age for a week what age would it be and why?
Hm? This one is difficult, so many good ages to choose from, and I’ve learned a lot from those experiences, however. This one I’m going to pass on. 😉

10. What cheers you up?
Wonder Woman and Hello Kitty! Having a whole day with nothing planned! Writing, napping and looking at beautiful art!

Today is National Rubber Ducky Day! In 1970, Jim Henson performed the song “Rubber Duckie” as Ernie on Sesame Street, and the rubber duck bath toy has been an iconic American symbol ever since. Rubber ducks have been around since the rise of the rubber industry in the late 1800s, but no one knows their exact origin.

Did you know that in January of 1992, a shipment of 29,000 rubber duckies fell off a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean? By 2007, the “Friendly Floatees” had traveled 17,000 miles around the world on the ocean currents. Some are still afloat today! Over the years, people reported sightings in Indonesia, Australia, South America, the Bering Straight, the Arctic, and (eventually) the Atlantic Ocean.

It is not celebrated in Denmark despite being named for the Danish prince Canute Lavard, and later also associated with his uncle, Canute the Saint, the patron saint of Denmark. Lohri 2015

Lohri is celebrated on January 13, 2015. Lohri is an extremely popular festival celebrated by the Punjabi people. This agricultural winter festival is celebrated in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttrakhand and Jammu. The origins of Lohri are many and link the festival to Punjab. Many people believe the festival was originally celebrated on winter solstice day, being the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

With time, the festival spread to the states adjoining Punjab – Sindh, Jammu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. Lohri falls in the month of Paush i.e. around 13 January, as per the Gregorian calendar. It is, actually, celebrated a day before Makara Sankranthi, as it marks the end of the winter season. The sun usually enters the Nirayana Makara rashi (Capricorn) on January 14.

There are many origins of Lohri: all forming part of folklore. A key feature of Lohri is the bonfire, it signifies the return of longer days. During the day, children go from door to door singing folk songs in praise of Dulha Bhatti. These children are given sweets and savories, and occasionally, money. Turning them back empty-handed is regarded inauspicious.

International Skeptics Day

International Skeptics Day is the perfect day for you…the “doubting Thomas”.

Perhaps the earth isn’t really round!? Maybe, the sky isn’t truely blue!? Does he(she) really love me!? ……..These are the words and questions of the classical skeptic.

By definition, a skeptic is a person who questions or doubts facts and theories. He, or she, is a mis-believer. A skeptic does not accept the “Given”. If you are inclined to doubt things that you see or hear, then International Skeptics Day is for you.

If you practice a little, I’m sure we can make a good skeptic out of you. Go ahead, give it a try. And, what better day to practice skepticism, than  International Skeptics Day?

We suspect that a real skeptic created this day. And, they did so by first creating doubt about the date to celebrate this special day. We found three dates: January 13th, October 13th, and the first Friday of the year. While Friday the 13th sounds intriguing, we have our doubts……….
