World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The date is the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant (born 8 May 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
The movement consists of several distinct organizations that are legally independent from each other, but are united within the movement through common basic principles, objectives, symbols, statutes and governing organisations.

The 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day will be celebrated on the anniversary day, Friday 8 May, and the following weekend, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2015.
Victory in Europe Day is celebrated all over Europe, and in other places around the world, and is called VE Day in some places.  It is the day that commemorates the end of World War II, specifically in Europe.
World War II lasted from 1 September, 1939, to 8 May, 1945. This war engaged over 100-million people serving in the military. Casualties of the war rose to an estimate of 70-million people, with approximately 6-million perishing in Adolf Hitler’s holocaust.
On 8 May, 1945, just weeks after Hitler committed suicide, Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces.

Veterans Day in Norway is observed on May 08, 2015. Veterans Day in Norway was instituted in 2000 by Norway’s Cabinet and falls on Victory in Europe Day. The choice of day has been criticized by Bjørnar Moxnes, leader of political party Rødt, saying one must differentiate between a defensive fight against an occupation force and offensive military operations outside Norway.

Furry Dance 2015

Furry Dance takes place on May 08, 2015. The Furry Dance (pronounced to rhyme with “hurry”), also known as The Flora (or incorrectly as the Floral Dance or the Cornish Floral Dance), takes place in Helston, Cornwall, and is one of the oldest British customs still practised today. The dance is very well attended every year and people travel from all over the world to see it: Helston Town Band play all the music for the dances. The Furry Dance takes place every year on May 8 or the Saturday before if May 8 falls on a Sunday or Monday.
