Old Maids Day shouldn’t have the negative connotation the name implies. It’s actually a tradition born in 1946, after World War II.
Somewhere during this time, it was noted that there were plenty of Maidens waiting for the returning GIs. The long war had disrupted and put on hold many relationships. And, many GIs did not return home. Dances and socials were held to bring together returning soldiers and the many available, unmarried ladies. It is from this occurrence that Old Maid’s Day emerged.

Give your cat or cats a big hug on this day! Hugs from cats and giving hugs to cats will lower a persons blood pressure, or mental goals, such as decreased stress. There is evidence that having a pet can help a person lead a longer, healthier life.
Cats are common pets in Europe and North America, and their worldwide population exceeds 500 million. For cats, life in proximity to humans and other animals kept by them amounts to a symbiotic social adaptation. They may express great affection towards their human companions, especially if they psychologically imprint on them at a very young age and are treated with consistent affection.
