General Events:

National Doughnut Day
June 5, 2015 in the USA
National Doughnut Day is celebrated on June 05, 2015, succeeding the Doughnut Day event created by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. This June observance takes place on the first Friday of June each year and celebrates the doughnut, also known as “donut”.
Attention: Many American doughnut stores offer free doughnuts on National Doughnut Day. In 2009, both independent doughnut shops and large national franchises offered free doughnuts in the United States. National Doughnut Day started as a fund raiser for Chicago’s The Salvation Army. Their goal was to help the needy during the Great Depression, and to honor The Salvation Army “Lassies” of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers.
A doughnut or donut is a type of fried dough confectionery or dessert food. Doughnuts are popular in many countries and prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, supermarkets, food stalls, and franchised specialty outlets. They are usually deep-fried from flour dough, and shaped in rings or flattened spheres that sometimes contain fillings. Other types of batters can also be used, and various toppings and flavorings are used for different types.
The two most common types are the toroidal ring doughnut and the filled doughnut, a flattened sphere injected with fruit preserves, cream, custard, or other sweet fillings. A small spherical piece of dough may be cooked as a doughnut hole. Doughnut varieties are also divided into cake and risen type doughnuts. Other shapes include rings, balls, and flattened spheres, as well as ear shapes, twists and other forms.

World Environment Day
June 5, 2015 in the World
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on June 05, 2015 and is a day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action. June 5 was the day that United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began in 1972. The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was from 5 until 16 June 1972. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972.
The first World Environment Day was in 1973. World Environment Day is hosted every year by a different city with a different theme and is commemorated with an international exposition in the week of 5 June. For example the topic for 2007 was “Melting Ice – a Hot Topic?” while the topic for 2010 was “Many Species. One Planet. One Future.” World Environment Day is in spring in the Northern Hemisphere and fall in the Southern Hemisphere. The Day is similar to Earth Day, which is celebrated annually on April 22.
The biophysical environment is the biotic and abiotic surrounding of an organism, or population, and includes particularly the factors that have an influence in their survival, development and evolution. The naked term is often used as a short form for the biophysical environment. A green economy is one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological green economy is an economy or economic development model based on sustainable development and a knowledge of ecological economics.

Festival of Popular Delusions Day
June 5, 2015 in the World
To understand Festival of Popular Delusions Day, you must be familiar with D-Day: D-Day was June 6, 1944 — the day of the Normandy invasion which cracked the Nazi grip on the planet.
In Germany on June 5th, 1945 (the year after D-Day– yet one day before the anniversary of D-Day), the Festival Of Popular Delusions Day began. This day marks the Nazi’s plan for world domination — the Popular Delusion of the day — right before its fall. A reminder that delusions and delusional leaders can be dangerous.
It’s a day for ourselves to perform a reality check not only on our selves as individuals, but take a look at the popular ideas of the day. Are we living with delusions? Among delusionary leaders? If so, we should be making our own plans to shatter the delusional holds upon us. We celebrate Popular Delusions Day with some serious thought to the matter.

National Moonshine Day
June 5, 2015 in the USA
National Moonshine Day is always observed all over the United States of America on the fifth day of June each year.
The term, moonshine, is supposed to come from the word, moonrakers, which was used in place of early English traffickers and the secret nature of the processes of unlawful Appalachian refiners who manufactured and sold whiskey.  The production of this liquor was performed under the shining moon, so to speak, to evade discovery.
