staycation (1)

So far on my staycation, I’ve been flinging things. 😀

My word for cleaning out the closets and drawers, flinging clothes into bags for dropping off. And I’ve been recording some interesting little plot bunnies too. Which reminds me, I need to schedule some more of the chapters. The story has been completed since last December when I went through and edited some things. But…I like the weekly posting, reminds me of a serial radio show. lol yeah, I’m weird. But I like it! 😉

speaking of recording things, I hope to have some time to sit and write today while the writing juices are flowing. I got to a spot in the sequel and then blam right into a wall. ugh! 😦  However certain events lately have gotten the creativity back to where it needs to be. I’m feeling better emotionally than I have for the past couple of months. Hey, this vacation stuff really does work! HA! 😉

I’m also getting my outfit ready for Friday, still trying to decide on the Wondie boots or the silver platforms, if I’m going as a Glamazon…. well you see my dilemma! Plus I still haven’t found the right gold belt, but I do believe I have a good substitute silver belt. Which would definitely mean the silver platforms! Yep! I think that’ll do. 😉  I’m not going for accuracy with this outfit, I’m going for unique and fun!

so until later, ya’ll keep yourselves hydrated. It’s really starting to get humid here, and I’m finding I’m drinking a lot of water. Caffeine as much as I ❤ my coffee, is a diuretic and thus dehydrates one  further. Yep! So time to switch from two pots a day to maybe a half a pot. Caffeine does have some beneficial effects as well, so I can’t go cold turkey, otherwise the low level migraine I have will increase rapidly. I just have to remember what we’re all taught in dietic classes, moderation. See! I do remember all that stuff from dietic classes, kinda have to being a diabetic, ya know. lol 😉

Okay back to flinging stuff around! Ya’ll have a beautiful day! Stay hydrated and watch your exposure in the sun. If you work outside, remember to use sunblock! yes, I’m just full of helpful stuff today!

XOXO

Saint Jonas’ Festival
June 24, 2015 in Lithuania
Saint Jonas’ Festival takes place on June 24, 2015. Saint Jonas’ Festival is a midsummer folk festival celebrated all around Lithuania. While midsummer day is celebrated throughout Europe, many Lithuanians have a particularly lively agenda on this day. The traditions include singing songs and dancing until the sun sets, telling tales, searching to find the magic fern blossom at midnight, jumping over bonfires, greeting the rising midsummer sun and washing the face with a morning dew, young girls float flower wreaths on the water of river or lake. These are customs brought from pagan culture and beliefs. The latter Christian tradition is based on the reverence of Saint John the Baptist. Lithuanians with the names Jonas, Jone, Janina receive many greetings from their family, relatives and friends.

International Fairy Day or Faerie Day
June 24, 2015 in World

Today is a day for fairy believers young and old to celebrate the stories, magic, and history of the Fair Folk. For centuries, fairies have been an important part of Celtic culture. In all of the ancient legends, these mythological creatures are described as intelligent, mischievous, and magical. They have the ability to fly and cast spells, and they live in “Tír na nóg,” the land of eternal youth. Some say that humans don’t often see fairies because of the division between the two worlds, but sightings can occur at twilight or during Beltane, Mid-Summer’s Eve, or All Hallow’s Eve.

Celebrate by leaving a little offering to the faeries (a thimble of cream, a crumb of cake or a bit of butter) and making a wish. Build a fairy house, or take a stroll through the woods. You never know when you might stumble across something magical!

Swim a Lap Day
June 24, 2015 in the World
Swim a Lap Day takes place on June 24, 2015. It’s a day to take your swimming togs and go to a swimming pool to swim one or more laps. There are many reasons why people swim. The largest reason for people swimming is as a recreation activity, with swimming consistently ranking as one of the physical activities people are most likely to take part in. Recreational swimming can be used for people to exercise, to relax or to rehabilitate.
Swimming is consistently found to be amongst the top recreational activities undertaken by the public, and in some countries, swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the educational curriculum. As a formalised sport, swimming features in a range of local, national and international competitions, including featuring in every modern summer Olympics.
Swimming is primarily an aerobic exercise due to the long exercise time, requiring a constant oxygen supply to the muscles, except for short sprints where the muscles work anaerobically. As with most aerobic exercise, swimming is believed to reduce the harmful effects of stress. Swimming can also improve posture.

National Pralines Day
June 24, 2015 in the USA
Pralines were originally created in France by coating almonds in caramelized sugar. The praline got its name from French soldier and sugar industrialist, Marshal du Plessis-Praslin, as it was his cook who invented it.
The recipe evolved when French settlers brought the recipe to Louisiana where chefs in New Orleans eventually substituted pecans for almonds and added cream.
Pralines now come in many flavors and include several different types of nuts. It’s no wonder they have their own day. Happy National Pralines Day!
