Embrace Your Geekness Day
July 13, 2015 in the World
Embrace Your Geekness Day is observed on July 13, 2015. The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe odd or non-mainstream people, with different connotations ranging from “an expert or enthusiast” to “a person heavily interested in a hobby”, with a general pejorative meaning of “a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp[ecially] one who is perceived to be overly intellectual”.
The definition of geek has changed considerably over time, and there is no longer a definitive meaning. The term nerd has a similar, practically synonymous meaning as geek, but many choose to identify different connotations among these two terms, although the differences are disputed.
There are many subclassifications of geeks such as the following: Science geeks, Math geeks, Computer geeks, History geeks, Engineering geeks, Language geeks, Art geeks, Music geeks, Sci-Fi geeks, Fantasy geeks, Comic Book geeks, Video Game geeks, Board Game geeks, Role-Playing Game geeks, Pop Culture geeks and even Sports geeks.

Statehood Day in Montenegro
July 13, 2015 in Montenegro
Statehood Day in Montenegro is celebrated on July 13, 2015. Statehood Day is a holiday that occurs every year in Montenegro to commemorate the day in 1878 on which the Berlin Congress recognized Montenegro as the twenty-seventh independent state in the world, and that in 1941 the Montenegrins staged an uprising against the Nazi occupiers and sided with the partisan communist movement. Statehood Day is not to be confused with Montenegro’s Independence Day, which is held each year on May 21 in honor of the 2006 plebiscite that indicated that 55,5% of Montenegrins were in favor of becoming a sovereign nation.

Barbershop Music Appreciation Day
July 13, 2015 in the World
Barbershop Music Appreciation Day takes place on July 13, 2015. The best way to join in Barbershop Music Appreciation Day is to go straight into a barbershop and enjoy the music that you can hear inside. In 2005, “The Sweet Adelines International” have founded this cheery holiday on their 60th anniversary. Traditionally barbershop singers come as a quartet and wear the same colorful suits and hats.
Barbershop singers make barbershops a cosy place and so much more than just an institution where your get your haircut. You can stay and talk to people, find out about the latest news about your neighbourhood and stay in touch with other people. No need to be bored while you wait and no need to be annoyed about the sound of the hairdryer because the barbershop singers will entertain you. Thank them for their music on Barbershop Music Appreciation Day.

Fool’s Paradise Day
July 13, 2015 in the World
Fool’s Paradise Day is celebrated on July 13, 2015. Fool’s Paradise Day is a day off for the mind. If the real life is wrecked up and everything might go wrong, the message is to close your eyes and dream yourself into another world. Paradise is a imagined place where no pain, work, sorrow, annoyance or worries exist. On Fool’s Paradise Day is a good occasion to visit this perfect place and forget about the troubles in real life.
The day is called Fool’s Paradise Day because escaping from reality or fading out one’s troubles needs a little foolishness. People who think too much and know a lot, are usually not easily able to let go. However, on Fool’s Paradise Day it is not foolish to close your eyes, but highly appreciated. Let the whole world fall apart and create your own paradise you can visit whenever you need a break.

International Town Criers Day – (Second Monday in July)
July 13, 2015 in the World
In olden times, when few people were literate, and there was little access to printed media, town criers were a central part of urban living. Town criers were responsible for keeping the populace up to date with the latest news and events, and for disseminating news from the ruling classes to the wider populace.
Now, the general literacy of the populace, and the ease of access to printed (and digital) media has rendered the town crier somewhat redundant – Town Crier Day celebrates the historical role of the town crier by encouraging people to take up the role of the town crier in their town or city.
