General Events:
World Psoriasis Day
October 29, 2015 in the World
World Psoriasis Day is observed annually on 29 October.
It is thought around 3% of the world’s population suffer from this condition, yet people all around the world still suffer from it and there is no cure.
It is a life-long disorder which often leaves red marks on the skin and can become cracked and bleed.
On World Psoriasis Day, the aim is to make everyone more aware of the condition, that it is not contagious, and to spread information to people who may have been suffering in silence.
There will also be a number of events held across the globe to mark the day and raise money for World Psoriasis Day.  In the past, events have included roller-skating exhibitions in Paris, concerts in Spain and street walks in Kenya!

Punkie Night 2015
October 29, 2015 in Somerset
Punkie Night is observed on October 29, 2015. Punkie Night is an English custom practised on the last Thursday of October, in Somerset in England. Children will march around with a jack o’lantern, singing a song which goes: “It’s Punkie Night tonight / It’s Punkie Night tonight / Adam and Eve would not believe / It’s Punkie Night tonight.” There are some variants of this old rhyme which also include these lines: “Give me a candle, give me a light If you don’t, you’ll get a fright”, or alternatively: “Give me a candle give me light If you haven’t a candle, a penny’s all right”. No one knows how the custom originated, although it is almost certainly linked with Hallowe’en.

Republic Day of Turkey
October 29, 2015 in Turkey
Republic Day of Turkey is celebrated on October 29, 2015. The Republic Day of Turkey is one of the public holidays in Turkey, commemorating the proclamation of the republic in 1923. It lasts 35 hours, starting at 1:00 pm on October 28. On 29 October 1923, Mustafa Kemal declared that Turkey would be a republic and renamed it as the Republic of Turkey.
Turkey had effectively been a republic from April 23, 1920 (the establishment of Grand National Assembly of Turkey) but official recognition of this came only 3 years later. On 29 October 1923, the new name of the nation and its status as a republic was declared.
After that, a vote occurred in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Atatürk was selected as the 1st president of the Republic of Turkey by unanimous vote. Since then, every year on October 29 is celebrated as Republic Day in Turkey.

National Hermit Day 2015
October 29, 2015 in the USA
Hermit Day is celebrated on October 29, 2015. Hermit Day is one of the very rare holidays to spend on your own. The origin of Hermit Day is not given but that is wonder because if the creator of that day was a hermit himself he probably would not have spoken to anyone. Hermits are people who live alone and have withdrawn from society. They do not need money or technological progress because they are total self-supporters.
It needs some arrangements to spend Hermit Day like a true hermit would do. First of all you need to find a quiet place where nobody will disturb you. Apart from that you should turn off your phone, cancel all meetings and maybe bring something to read or draw. It is not unusual to meditate, pray or be creative during solitude on Hermit Day.
To celebrate National Hermit Day, find a secluded place to go and:
– Turn off your phone.
– Turn off your computer.
– Rest and relax.
– Enjoy your quiet time.
