World Science Day for Peace and Development is a United Nations observance held on November 10. It was officially proclaimed by the UNESCO General Conference in 2001. This event focuses on demonstrating to the wider public why science is relevant for their daily lives.
In 1999, UNESCO and the International Council for Science organized the World Conference on Science in Budapest, Hungary. World Science Day for Peace and Development was inaugurated as follow-up in order to reaffirm the commitment to attaining the goals proclaimed during the Conference. The first celebration of the World Day of Science was held on November 10, 2002.
World Science Day aims to renew the commitment to science for peace and development. It also raises public awareness of the importance of the responsible use of science for the benefit of society and recognizes the contribution of scientists to sustainable development.

International Accounting Day is the professional holiday of all accountants, and is also frequently referred to as International Accountant’s Day. It is celebrated on November 10th every year. Even though many countries have designated some local date for praising accountants, November 10th is the date that unites all people in the profession. This day goes back in history to year 1494, when book titled “Summa de Arithmetica, Geometria, Proportioni et Proportionalita” (Everything About Arithmetic, Geometry and Proportion) was published in Venice. This was the first book that contained essay on double-entry bookkeeping and provided a base for other works on mercantile accounting.
Although double-entry bookkeeping had been around for centuries, Pacioli’s 27-page treatise on the subject earned him the title “The Father of Modern Accounting.” While Luca Pacioli is often called the “Father of Accounting” he did not invent the system. Instead, he simply described a method used by merchants in Venice during the Italian Renaissance period. His system included most of the accounting cycle as we know it today. For example, he described the use journals and ledgers, and he warned that a person should not go to sleep at night until the debits equalled the credits!

There are very few of us who have not been impacted by Sesame Street in our childhood years. So, it only makes sense that Sesame Street Day was created to celebrate the tremendous influence that this maverick television programme has had upon our lives.
Sesame Street day was first established in 2009 to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of its original broadcast. While initiated in New York, it should come as no great surprise that this occasion is now recognised by tens of thousands of individuals from around the world. In fact, the number of followers continues to grow each year.
Commemorating Sesame Street Day has no real conventions; you can choose to celebrate it as you see personally fit. You might wish to relive your youth by watching old episodes or instead head to the local toy store and pick out your favourite Muppet. Either way, Sesame Street Day is a true celebration of our childhoods!

Hari Pahlawan (Indonesian for Heroes’ Day/Warriors’ Day) is a Remembrance Day annually celebrated on 10 November in Indonesia. The day commemorates the 1945 Battle of Surabaya, in which pro-independence Indonesian soldiers and militia fought against British and Dutch troops as part of the Indonesian National Revolution.

Young Readers Day takes place on November 10, 2015. It is celebrated each year on the second Tuesday in November. According to the creators of this day, it is “… a special day to recognize the joys and benefits of reading.” Reading opens up a lifetime of knowledge, information, success, and happiness. Use today to help and encourage our youth to learn to read, and open the door to knowledge, information, success, and happiness.
While this is referred to by some as a “National” day, we did not find any presidential proclamation or act of congress.

National Forget-Me-Not Day

There are two ways to interpret this random holiday. Forget-Me-Not Day is a day to remember the important people in your life and remind them that they are not forgotten. It is also a day that celebrates the bright, simple little flower, the Forget-Me-Not! The little blue flower can sometimes be overlooked for the more fancy flowers, and it’s kind of symbolic if you compare it to friendships that can be neglected and overlooked, as beautiful and simple as they may be. Today is a great day for remembering friends and slowing down to recognize the little things in life, like Forget-Me-Nots.
Call up an old friend or a family member that you haven’t heard from for a while. Remember why they are important to you, and share some fond memories. Life gets so busy sometimes and it is easy to let a friendship fade just simply because time passes. If a phone call seems like too much, write them a note! Yes, we’re talking traditional snail mail. When was the last time you actually wrote a letter to someone? There is something that is so much more personal and meaningful about a physical letter, even if it is just something short and sweet. Emails are so easy and can easily be passed up in a cluttered inbox. I know that for me, nothing brightens my day more than getting a personal letter or card in the mail! Let someone that is special to you know that they have not been forgotten.
