Wednesday, the 18th of November, 2015 is the 322th day in 2015 and in the 47th calendar week.
General Events:
Occult Day 2015
November 18, 2015 in the World
Occult Day takes place on November 18, 2015. The occult is “knowledge of the hidden”. In common English usage, occult refers to “knowledge of the paranormal”, as opposed to “knowledge of the measurable”, usually referred to as science.
The term is sometimes taken to mean knowledge that “is meant only for certain people” or that “must be kept hidden”, but for most practising occultists it is simply the study of a deeper spiritual reality that extends beyond pure reason and the physical sciences. The terms esoteric and arcane have very similar meanings, and in most contexts the three terms are interchangeable.
Occult also describes a number of magical organizations or orders, the teachings and practices taught by them, and to a large body of current and historical literature and spiritual philosophy related to this subject.

GIS Day is held the third Wednesday of November each year, during Geography Awareness Week, a geographic literacy initiative sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

Mickey Mouse Day
November 18, 2015 in the World
Mickey Mouse was Walt’s most famous character. His first big screen debut was Steamboat Willie on November 18th, 1928. Mickey Mouse has become and international personality whose success laid the financial foundation upon which Walt Disney built his creative organization. Besides being the personification of everything Disney, Mickey has become one of the most universal symbols of the Twenieth Century. Mickey was born in Walt’s imagination late in 1928 on a train ride from New York to Los Angeles. Disney wanted to name him Mortimer but his wife told him to call him Mickey instead. He played everything from fireman to giant killer, cowboy to inventor, detective to plumber. Technically and artistically Mickey cartoons were far superior to other contemporary cartoons and gave life to an entire family of animated characters like Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto.

National Vichyssoise Day
November 18, 2015 in the USA
It’s National Vichyssoise Day! This holiday celebrates vichyssoise—a delicious thick, French-style soup made from potatoes, cream, chicken stock, leeks, and onions.
Traditionally served chilled, vichyssoise (pronounced “vee shee swahzz”) has a French name but was invented in America. It was created in 1917 by a French chef named Louis Diat when he was working at the Ritz-Carlton in New York. He named the dish after “Vichy,” a town near to where he grew up.
Never tried vichyssoise? Find a recipe and make it for dinner tonight!
