National Youth Day in Albania (Dita Kombëtare e Rinisë)
December 8, 2015 in Albania
National Youth Day is a public holiday in Albania celebrated on December 8. It was established in 2010 to commemorate student demonstrations that occurred in December 1990.
In 1944, Albania was liberated from Nazi occupation by the National Liberation Movement and became a socialist republic. After the Second World War, it severed ties with Western countries and became heavily dependent on Soviet aid. Albania’s communist regime was similar to that in other Eastern European countries.
In 1985, Ramiz Alia became the country’s head of state. He loosened some political controls and allowed public discussion of societal problems. However, many young Albanians thought that he was too cautious.
The fall of communism in Albanian began in December 1990 with student protests in the capital city of Tirana. Students of the University of Tirana (then Enver Hoxha University) marched through the streets, demanding political and social reforms. By December 11, the number of protesters had reached almost 3,000. In order to quell the unrest, Alia met with the students and promised to take further steps toward democratization.
In 2010, the anniversary of the first demonstration was declared National Youth Day to recognize the contribution of Albanian youth to the fall of communism.

Take it in the Ear Day
December 8, 2015 in the World
Take it in the Ear Day is a bizarre day of unknown origin. Our research found absolutely no documentation about the origin of this day. And, we have not uncovered any information around the meaning or purpose of this day. Yet, references to this day on bizarre and fun calendars abound.
It is up to anyone to find an individual way to celebrate Take it in the Ear Day. Like the movie “Liar, liar” with Jim Carrey introduces this phrases can be used whenever you cannot find any other argument. Therefore it s absolutely ok to anyone who jangles your nerves to take it in the ear.
So Take it n the Ear does not really have anything to do with anyone’s ear.

Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day
December 8, 2015 in the USA
Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day is celebrated annually on December 8. You must spend the entire day in costume and character. The only rule is that you cannot actually tell anyone that you are a time traveler. Other than that, anything’s game.
Here is the original post that actually got this day started back in 2007 – https://geekusa.wordpress.com/2007/12/04/act-like-a-time-traveller-day/

National Brownie Day
December 8, 2015 in the USA
Popularized in both the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the 20th century, many sources say that brownies originated in New England during the early twentieth century, but there are many variations to the tale. One story says that a Boston chef mistakenly added melted chocolate to a batch of biscuits, thus creating the first brownies. Another version claims that a housewife in Bangor, Maine was making a chocolate cake but forgot to add baking powder. The cake did not rise properly and, instead of throwing it out, she served it in flat pieces.
Brownies come in a variety of forms. They are either fudgy or cakey, depending on their density, and they may include nuts, frosting, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or other ingredients. A variation that is made with brown sugar and no chocolate is called a blondie.
Brownies are common lunchbox fare, typically eaten by hand, and often accompanied by milk or coffee. They are sometimes served warm with ice cream, topped with whipped cream or marzipan, or sprinkled with powdered sugar. They are especially popular in restaurants, where they can be found in variation on many dessert menus.
