Calendar day; February 29, 2016

Monday, the 29th of February, 2016 is the 60th day in 2016 and in the 9th calendar week.
General Events:
Leap Day 2016
February 29, 2016 in the World
Leap Day is celebrated on February 29, 2016. February 29, also known as the leap day of the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are divisible by 4. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of the year. For the Chinese calendar, this day itself in February will only occur in years of the monkey, dragon and rat.
Although most modern calendar years have 365 days, a complete revolution around the sun (one Solar year) takes approximately 365 days and 6 hours. An extra 24 hours thus accumulates every four years, requiring that an extra calendar day be added to align the calendar with the sun’s apparent position. Without the added day, the seasons would move back in the calendar, leading to confusion about when to undertake activities dependent on weather, ecology, or hours of daylight.
A person who is born on February 29 may be called a “leapling” or a “leap year baby”. In non-leap years, some leaplings celebrate their birthday on either February 28 or March 1, while others only observe birthdays on the authentic intercalary dates, such asFebruary 29 leap days.

World Rare Disease Day
February 29, 2016 in the World
World Rare Disease Day is an annual observance held on the last day of February to raise awareness for rare diseases and improve access to treatments and medical representation for individuals with rare diseases and their families. . It was established in 2008 because, according to the European Organization for Rare Diseases (EURORDIS), treatment for many rare diseases is insufficient, as are the social networks to support individuals with rare diseases and their families.
The 9th annual World Rare Disease Day will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 (the rarest day of the year)! On this day, various activities take place in the United States, Europe, Russia, Japan and elsewhere around the world.

Who’s a type A?

I’m a type A! LOL 😀

so what to do while you’re on call for twelve hours, well if you’re me, then you get the start of your documentation for the W H O L E week ready to go! Yep!! That’s me!

This is helpful for multiple reasons, one I can sleep in a bit, not have to get up at the crack of dawn, to get in and get it done early in the morning. Ta*Da it’s started already! And two I feel better being prepared, takes my stress level from an eight to a two!!! Yeah! That is the most important!! Stress level! 😉

and um… I’ve been painting my fingernails too. lol 😉 looking cute I still have to do my ring finger’s at home, I forgot that nail color. Yeah, I usually do my ring finger nail’s a different color! I’m just different like that.

Now then, my Type A personality is waaaay more laid back than a TRUE type A, or as I’ve gotten more mature it’s mellowed out. I don’t get as angry as I used to, or if I do, I control it much better!! If I have an issue with something or someone- I confront the situation or them as logically as possible. Emotion has no room in this – Philosophy 101! 😉 But I am a time person-I still arrive places an hour earlier than scheduled, still a bit of a perfectionist, even though I’ve learnt to stop correcting people on their spelling, punctuation, and pronunciation. OH YEAH! I used to be really really bad about all of those!! Ask my friends that remember when I’d reply to their emails and I would red the corrections to their emails. 😦 yeah… I’m not embarrassed by it, I think it’s humorous now.  But my friend’s would smack me when they saw me. Still humorous! 😀 AS to my stress level and the chances of Heart issues, um yeah, no friggin doubt!! TIA’s-4+ including one as recent as two weeks ago, Strokes-2 and a Cardiac Arrest in 2010! all before I was forty-five! So I’ve had to learn to relax some of my stringent ways and go with the flow!!

Also a big thank you to my spiritual beliefs and my love of artistic endeavors which has helped me with my logic skills, patience, mindfullness and keeping me busy with different ways to relax! 😉

Wormhole of my heart, why yes I am a Gate Geek! 😉

So back to doing some things the way I’ve done before; hair, nails, and other stuff. 😉 lol

and since I’m back to coloring my hair myself I’d love to review Loreal’s new hair product: Mousse Hair Absolute. I’m giving it a 2 1/2 out of 10! 😦

It gets a least a two as it covers the gray ;), but this mousse product is very difficult to work with, one to cover your hair, two to rinse it out, and three today- second day after coloring and my hair feels ugh!! Like it has a helmet of product in and on it. I’ll be re-washing my hair tonight to get this feeling to go away.

The one perk that really caused me to purchase this-other than the coupon, is that it is good for more than one application. Meaning I was able to use it twice! Cost effective, but not at the price of feeling like ugh hair, ya know?  So yeah, 2 1/2 out of 10. 😦  and I like Loreal hair products. So I’m sad about this! 😦 (see)

and now onto doing my nails. Woohoo! I’ve just about got the old acrylics gone. I’m not ripping them off like I did last time. OWWW! I’m letting them grow off. But I am keeping them short and then using the black emery board to smooth down the area between my nail and that of the acryric nail. Yeah, boys might not understand this. LOL 😀  but the fun part is coloring my nails. Hubs can’t stand the smell of the polish and I don’t blame him. But woot! I have lots of polish and can have fun! well within reason. I do have to keep them professional for work. 😉

and then I received a coupon for 50 % off glasses in my email from my M Perks. Hubs needs glasses, and I made an appointment online through the Meijer’s website! Yeah, I like that!!

so the computer repair may be longer, his eyesight is more important than me being able to use the home computer. Yeah! I know…

The home computer is acting a little weird and I don’t have the money to take it to the Geek Monkeys right now. So my time online at home might be nonexistant for a while. I still have my phone and I’m updating my laptop-so there’s that. 😉

and then the event I do every Saturday night; Stargate Rewind is not letting me edit the date field… oi! so I created a new event-please sign up to get the notice. thank you 😉

and I’m on-call today, so ya’ll have an awesome Sunday! 😀

ps- yes, I already updated the blog to March too! lol 😉

The Torment of Tantalus

I’m used to doing a marathon viewing of a full disc and we have 10 seasons to watch. So I asked and seems others are up to watching two episodes in a night.

We’ll have an intermission between the two shows. 😉

Again this is a virtual event that I’m hosting on FB.

Tell a Fairy Tale Day
February 26, 2016 in the World
Tell a Fairy Tale Day takes place on February 26, 2016. You could read your kids fairy tales today or read them alone. A fairy tale is a type of short story that typically features folkloric fantasy characters, such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, dwarves, giants, mermaids, or gnomes, and usually magic or enchantments. Fairy tales may be distinguished from other folk narratives such as legends and explicitly moral tales, including beast fables.
The older fairy tales were intended for an audience of adults, as well as children, but they were associated with children as early as the writings of the précieuses; the Brothers Grimm titled their collection Children’s and Household Tales, and the link with children has only grown stronger with time.
In cultures where demons and witches are perceived as real, fairy tales may merge into legends, where the narrative is perceived both by teller and hearers as being grounded in historical truth. However, unlike legends and epics, they usually do not contain more than superficial references to religion and actual places, people, and events; they take place once upon a time rather than in actual times.

World Pistachio Day
February 26, 2016 in the World
National Pistachio Day is observed on February 26, 2016. The pistachio seed, commonly thought of as a nut, is a culinary nut, not a botanical nut. The kernels are often eaten whole, either fresh or roasted and salted, and are also used in ice cream, pistachio butter, pistachio paste and confections.
China is the top pistachio consumer worldwide, with annual consumption of 80,000 tons, while the United States consumes 45,000 tons. Iran, the United States and Turkey are the major producers of pistachios. The trees are planted in orchards, and take approximately seven to ten years to reach significant production.

National For Pete’s Sake Day
February 26, 2016 in the USA
For Pete’s Sake Day celebrates one example of a ‘minced oath’, where an offensive word or phrase is substituted by something more acceptable in society. Other examples include ‘For crying out loud!’, and ‘Sugar!’. Such euphemisms have been used for centuries whenever people hit thumbs with hammers, burn hands on hot plates, or sit on sharp things while in polite company.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, “for Pete’s sake” came into use more than a century ago and prompted similar sayings such as “for the love of Pete” in 1906 and “in the name of Pete” in 1942.
The annual “For Pete’s Sake Day” was started by a former radio talk show host in Lebanon, Pa., Tom Roy and his wife, Ruth. They submitted it to publisher McGraw Hill’s “Chase’s Calendar of Events” 20 years ago. It’s been one of the featured made-up holidays ever since. “We only create for others to do with as they wish.”
