Candy Cane Cocoa

Well I’ve posted lots of cookies, and little DIY crafts….but now it’s time to think of that drink you’ll be sipping while sitting back and enjoying some quiet time.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: 10 Minutes Ready In: 15 Minutes Servings: 4

“Milk is heated with semisweet chocolate and crushed candy canes. Then each mug is garnished with whipped cream and a small candy cane.”

INGREDIENTS:

4 cups milk 3 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped

4 peppermint candy canes, crushed 1 cup whipped cream 4 small peppermint candy canes

DIRECTIONS:

1.	In a saucepan, heat milk until hot, but not boiling. Whisk in the chocolate and the crushed peppermint candies until melted and smooth. Pour hot cocoa into four mugs, and garnish with whipped cream. Serve each with a candy cane stirring stick.

oooh what a cool idea!

With just a bit of imagination, baking and decorating, you could have some really cute and edible presents! And you could get the kids to help! Also if you think about it, and use a mug for the base of your bouquet, than… it’s cookies with a cup, you could add in some hot chocolate, a small packet of coffee or even a gift card for their favorite coffee place. Ideas are endless with this. Now to find some cookie cutters, and a few mugs! Yep! I think I know what I’m doing now! 😀

Christmas Wreath Cookies

Ingredients

Original recipe makes 3 dozen

1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4  cups miniature marshmallows
4 cups cornflakes cereal
1 teaspoon green food coloring
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 (2.25 ounce) package cinnamon red hot candies

Directions

1. Microwave marshmallows and butter on High for 2 minutes. Stir, then microwave on High for 2 minutes more. Stir. (This can be done in a double boiler if one doesn’t have a microwave.)
2. Add and mix quickly the coloring, extracts, then cornflakes. Drop by spoonfuls in clumps on greased wax paper and decorate with 3 red hots each.
3. Once cool, transfer to lightly greased serving/storage tray with lightly greased fingers.

I’m always looking for cute inexpensive, preferably homemade presents to give.  I think it shows more TLC when you make it yourself. However I’m also good with making a little homemade gift card envelope, and inserting a gift card! 😀

because no matter how cute, when you put time and energy into it, and they go, “Oh gee. Thanks…” yeah! Sometimes a gift card is the best way to go! but go check out the ideas on the three sites above. You might find something you can’t live without.  😉

Even if you think you can’t do a design, you might be surprised. Look through these pretties. There’s a design that you might like? And it would be a great idea to have a nail party, everyone works on everyone else’s nails, great idea. And you could toss in one of those baking cookie things too, that way everyone gets cookies and pretty nails. 😀

The cookie party, you invite people to your house, they bring a cookie recipe and the ingredients, or they bring the already finished cookies with the recipe. Then everyone takes cookies from each other putting them on a plate, with the recipes. And viola-cookies for you and the recipe to make them yourself at home. Yeah, I’ve done this for years. Fun stuff! You just have to ensure everyone brings a different cookie, otherwise you end up with a plate of sugar cookies-not bad, but ya know. 😉

so now onto the nail designs. They are pretty cute and some even easy! 😀 I stuck with the red and white, as most girlies already have these two colors to use! that way, no extra money is spent! 😀
