September 14, 2015 in Romania
All Romanian engineers annually celebrate their professional holiday, known as Engineer’s Day, on September 14. This holiday was officially established in 2000.
In 2000, the government of Romania designated September 14 to be a special day, honoring the hard work that engineers do to build nation and modernize the regions of Romania. Every year special events and festive ceremonies are organized by the Ministry of Education and Research in cooperation with the Technical Academy, th? association of engineers, to celebrate the holiday. These events are usually held in the form of a symbolic meeting.
Profession of the engineer has a rich history and long-running traditions in Romania. On June 15, 1894 the first Technical Corps were founded in Romania and they gave birth to the current profession. The first long-running society of engineers, Polytechnic Society, was established in 1881 in the presence of King Carol I, who inaugurated the first railroad running from Buzau to Mara?e?ti. This was the first railroad build by Romanian engineers only.

Rosh Hashanah 2015
September 14, 2015 in the World
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and takes place on September 14, 2015. Translated it means “head of the year” and it is the first of the High Holy Days which usually occur in the early autumn of the Northern Hemisphere. Rosh Hashanah is a two day celebration which begins on the first day of Tishrei, the first month of the Jewish calendar. The day is believed to be the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, and their first actions toward the realization of mankind’s role in God’s world.
Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar and eating symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey. The common greeting on Rosh Hashanah is “Shanah Tovah.” In Jewish liturgy, Rosh Hashanah leads to Yom Kippur, which is described as “the day of judgment” and “the day of remembrance”. Rosh Hashanah occurs 163 days after the first day of Passover (Pesach). The earliest date on which Rosh Hashanah can fall is September 5, the latest date that Rosh Hashanah can occur relative to the Gregorian dates is October 5.
The High Holidays or High Holy Days, in Judaism, more properly known as the Yamim Noraim may mean strictly, the holidays of Rosh Hashanah (“Jewish New Year”) and Yom Kippur (“Day of Atonement”) or by extension, the period of ten days including those holidays, known also as the Ten Days of Repentance (Aseret Yemei Teshuvah). By a further extension, the entire 40-day penitential period in the Jewish year from Rosh Chodesh Elul to Yom Kippur can be meant.

National Cream-Filled Donut Day
September 14, 2015 in the USA
Whether you enjoy chocolate, vanilla, lemon or ganache filling in your donut, today is the perfect day to enjoy these sweet treats!
Donuts came to the United States in the mid-1800s through Dutch settlers that were known for their pastries. The first donut with a hole in the middle is said to be a creation of American Hansen Gregory. Thankfully, someone after Hansen made the brilliant decision to fill that hole with delicious cream filling! These were so well-liked that the Boston Creme Donut, perhaps one of the most popular cream filled donuts, became the official donut of Massachusetts in 2003.
Celebrate National Cream Filled Donut Day with a stop at your local bakery for a box of fresh cream filled donuts!
