YAY! 😀 It’s almost NANOWRIMO!! November 1st it starts!! 😀

What? You haven’t heard of NANOWRIMO? Here’s the 411: NANOWRIMO

Now I do participate. However here’s the thing. I love to write! So for me, it’s not a novel, per sa, it’s a new story. Or in this case, a story that I need to get back to and finish. The word count won’t be a problem for me. I have been told to write less. Ack! All those times I had to chop out/delete stuff to get a paper under the word count.
I’m um… a little chatty. I’ve never been able to do a PWP- for non fic-writers PWP=plot what plot? Yeah, I’ve tried and I can’t do it. I have to have a plot. I like writing from point A to point B all the way to Z conclusion. LOL

I also like physical writing, pen to paper. So I’ll do my outline in pen, adding in dialogue in bits of the outline, and then move it to the computer to really go.

I’m lucky, I had a teacher once that taught me how to stop the ‘blank sheet’ anxiety. Yes, some people have this issue. They look at a blank sheet and start having anxiety issues. I wish I could remember it, I’d share. But the solution just comes naturally to me now. A blank sheet is my canvas to fill with words. All sorts of words to paint a picture. To imagine a new world, or re imagine the one we live in. Or honestly just to have fun, and tell a good story! 😀

oooh, some of it is coming back to me. When I had that myocardial infarction it messed with my memory. But the one thing that sticks out; is to write every day for an hour. It doesn’t matter on what, just grab a pad of paper and write. Or get on your comp, open a word document writer and go that way. Make it a journal, or your goals for the month…year. Or try to tell a story, just write for an hour. Stop and continue on tomorrow. Pretty soon that blank sheet anxiety will melt away. My advice if you do want to write a story, is to remember that stuff your English/Writing teacher drilled in your head; an Outline! There are times that you’re writing and then, real life happens, you have to Control S and go deal with it. Then you come back and uh oh, can’t remember what/where you were going. An outline can be very easy. Mine are similar to this:

A- opening
B- start the plot
C- etc
all the way to my conclusion. I also add in bits of dialogue where they might fit, and I don’t want to forget them. I mean honestly, some lines just come to you and they are just perfect for this story. Write them down! I keep a notebook with dialogue lines for certain characters. Yes, I really do. 😀

But your outline, is your guideline. Make it work for you.

Finally, Have Fun! Telling stories shouldn’t be work. You’re telling something that you want to share, so enjoy and have fun!

Next thing you know, blank sheets mean nothing to you, and writing 5000 words an hour or a day becomes easy peasy.

Now then for those that want to tell a story, are you ready to participate in NANOWRIMO? There are a few support groups on Facebook. And I’ve seen people tweet about it on twitter.

Peace & Pens!
