Happy Heart Day <3

As someone that has had 2 heart attacks, 4 strokes, multiple TIA’s (mini strokes) and a Triple Bypass Surgery this is a pretty important day for me! I’m currently using a Rollator from the VA the F22 Rollator, not to be confused with the F22 Raptor- a wicked jet! 🙂 And hey, check it out, I still have my Smart Assy sense of humor or as I call it, my SASSY sense of humor! 🙂

I had a stroke on Saturday after excessive stress compounded by the loss of my mother on September 21, 2021. That’s why there were no posts about having a Blessed Mabon. We did go to Indianapolis on Saturday, September 25th to go see others of our Spiritual Preference-Wiccans and that was when I was noticing the symptoms. Patrick was driving and decided, “Hey, look we’re close to the VA.” so off we went.

I have Follow-Up Appointments this Friday and Monday! For my heart issues and my Vertigo issues. Patrick wants me to have an MRI or CAT scan done… I’ll let him talk to my providers and see what they say.

If you’re smoking, overweight and/or Diabetic please know you’re at higher risk of heart related issues.
I quit smoking 4 years ago and it is easier to breathe. I have been working on re-losing my weight, I gained some back after the surgery. And I’m definitely watching my blood sugar, A1C and exercising more. By exercising I mean walking. No more strenuous activity for me. I can’t find a local Tai Chi or Yoga group in this area!!! 😦

Take Care of yourself and go get your Covid Vaccinations! I’ve had both and I just got my Booster yesterday! Day before I got my influenza vaccination! I’m up to date on my immunizations!! woot!

International Coffee Day
September 29, 2015 in the World
International Coffee Day takes place on September 29, 2015. International Coffee Day is an annual event observed in a handful of countries for the celebration and enjoyment of the popular beverage coffee. This day is also used to promote fair trade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of the coffee growers.
On this day, many businesses around the world offer free or discounted cups of coffee. Some businesses share coupons and special deals with their loyal followers via social networking. Some greeting card companies sell National Coffee Day greeting cards, as well as free e-cards to help celebrate the occasion. While the exact origin of International Coffee Day is unknown, many countries around the world participate in this event.
Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared from the roasted seeds of several species of an evergreen shrub of the genus Coffea. Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans because of its caffeine content. It is one of the most consumed drinks in the world.
Many studies have examined the health effects of coffee, and whether the overall effects of coffee consumption are positive or negative has been widely disputed. The majority of recent research suggests that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults. However, coffee can worsen the symptoms of some conditions, such as anxiety.

World Heart Day
September 29, 2015 in the World
World Heart Day is part of an international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. This is the perfect day to quit smoking, get exercising and start eating healthy – all in the name of keeping your ticker in good working order, and improving the health and well being of people the world over.
The World Heart Federation have found that heart disease and strokes are the world’s leading cause of death, killing 17.1 million people every year – that’s more than victims of cancer, HIV and AIDS and malaria.
Overeating, lack of exercise, unhealthy diets and high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels are all factors which can trigger heart disease and threaten our own lives, and those of loved ones. Heart Day was set up to drive home the message that heart problems can be prevented.
The aim is to improve health globally by encouraging people to make lifestyle changes and promoting education internationally about ways to be good to your heart. This lesson is becoming increasingly relevant as reports of obesity, poor diet and physical inactivity in children and young people become more and more common.
Events take place to promote healthy hearts. Charities and other organisations coordinate walks and runs, health checks, public talks, shows and exhibitions to name a few of the interesting and informative events which mark the day. So on Heart Day, get involved, eat your fruit and veg and get outside; both you and your heart will feel the benefits.

Confucius Day 2015
September 29, 2015 in the World
Confucius Day is celebrated on September 29, 2015. It honors one of the world’s greatest philosophers. Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.
His followers competed successfully with many other schools during the Hundred Schools of Thought era only to be suppressed in favor of the Legalists during the Qin Dynasty. Following the victory of Han over Chu after the collapse of Qin, Confucius’s thoughts received official sanction and were further developed into a system known as Confucianism.
Confucius is traditionally credited with having authored or edited many of the Chinese classic texts including all of the Five Classics, but modern scholars are cautious of attributing specific assertions to Confucius himself. Aphorisms concerning his teachings were compiled in the Analects, but only many years after his death.
Confucius’s principles had a basis in common Chinese tradition and belief. He championed strong family loyalty, ancestor worship, respect of elders by their children of husbands by their wives. He also recommended family as a basis for ideal government. He espoused the well-known principle “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself”, an early version of the Golden Rule.
